This week’s featured soundtrack is from Shining Force II.
RPG soundtracks seem to really get a groove going in all the right spots, but also hit you right in the feels. Even without knowing the context of some of these games, the music still gets across emotion in ways that some games just don’t really capture.
Composed by Motoaki Takenouchi, this OST really has some solid entries. Town Theme and Castle Theme are pretty solid – I love the trumpeting feel of some of the synths. The rolling snares in some of the songs on this soundtrack really give a militaristic feel and in some cases really get the blood pumping for some strategy-style combat. The game is awesome, and the soundtrack complements it perfectly. Enjoy!
